A top creator has joined the trend—Charli D’Amelio, the most followed influencer on TikTok, has released her very first perfume called Born Dreamer.

Charli D’Amelio describes the scent as “clean and fresh”. In an interview with Allure, she shared, “I’ve been wearing perfume for many years, but for the past year and a half, I’ve only worn Born Dreamer. I always get compliments when I walk into a room.”

This isn’t D’Amelio’s first step into the beauty world. Her viral TikTok dance videos helped her gain over 156.8 million followers, and she previously teamed up with her sister, Dixie, to launch nail polishes with Orosa Beauty and makeup products with Morphe 2. However, Born Dreamer for females only, launched exclusively at Ulta Beauty on June 26, 2022, marks her first solo venture in beauty. And Born Dreamer Happy Place was launched in 2023 for both men and women.

Charli D’Amelio recalls how, as a child, she would always notice the different fragrances her parents wore when they went out. “I wanted a scent that felt like mine,” she says. “Something that would become my signature, so when I entered a room, people would recognise it.”

Struggles Behind the Development of Born Dreamer Perfume

Her debut perfume, Born Dreamer, was developed in collaboration with the French fragrance house Robertet, known for crafting scents for brands like Off-White and Ariana Grande. The fragrance blends notes of citrus, pear, and jasmine. “The jasmine is truly special,” D’Amelio shares. “I got to smell it in real life while visiting Grasse, France.”

Even the smallest tweaks can define a fragrance, and Charli D’Amelio shares that she went through several versions before finding the perfect, versatile scent. “In the beginning, it was all a learning experience. You don’t realise how much effort goes into creating a single fragrance until you see it happening in front of you,” she explains.

D’Amelio isn’t the only TikTok star to venture into the world of perfume—Addison Rae launched her trio of scents last year. In many ways, both are following in the footsteps of celebrity fragrance lines, a tradition carried by icons like Elizabeth Taylor, Britney Spears, and Rihanna. However, influencers bring something different to the table. Their connection with followers is often more personal than the one fans have with traditional celebrities, especially on a platform like TikTok, where authenticity plays a major role.

“There’s a real sense of trust on TikTok,” says D’Amelio. “When people post reviews, they’re usually very honest and open about their opinions, which is a huge plus for buyers. I believe the more genuine you are in your reviews, the more people trust you, and that trust extends to your brand and the products you recommend.”
