D’Amelio’s Be Happy Snacks (Popcorn)

The D’Amelio family are always on top of the latest trends — and their newest venture is no different.

Charli, Dixie, and their parents, Marc and Heidi D’Amelio, launched Be Happy Snacks Popcorn in late October 2023. It will be available at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com starting. The D’Amelio family expanded into food with Be Happy Snacks, which was also available at 7-Eleven and Speedway stores.

Heidi says the Be Happy Snacks Popcorn is gluten-free and comes in four “unique” flavours: Cotton Candy, Maple Bacon, Parmesan Garlic, and Nice Spice.

“I love all of them,” Heidi tells PEOPLE. “They’re all so different. I feel like people say, ‘Oh, Marc’s the Parmesan Garlic. Charli’s cotton candy. Dixie’s…’”

“Nice Spice, probably!” Dixie, 22, chimes in.

That leaves the Maple Bacon flavour for Heidi, though she says her favourite is cotton candy, too.

“We just downed four bags in the conference room,” quips Marc.

Selection Of Brand’s Name

The brand’s name was inspired by Dixie’s song “Be Happy”, which she released in 2022.

“It is so personal for me, and obviously became a little bit of a meme during quarantine, like ‘Be Happy’. Sometimes I don’t want to be happy,” she admits with a laugh. “It’s so cool that it’s still part of what we’re doing and our family. Plus, it looks cool on the bag.”

The cheery packaging was intentional, adds Dixie. “Charli and I, sometimes we do buy snacks by the cover,” she says. “I would buy something because it looks cute.” But with Be Happy, “it tastes good, too,” she says, “which is perfect!”

D’Amelio’s Family Working Together

Working together as a family feels natural for this close-knit group.

“Coming up with new flavours is really fun… we all get to share our opinions,” says Charli. “Sometimes we agree, sometimes we don’t. But in the end, we’re all pretty similar and have the same taste, so it works out.”

“Our whole family helped with it,” Marc adds. “This is the first business we’ve all been involved in. It’s the first real project that goes from our family to yours.”

Charli has also thanked her parents for always supporting her, saying it takes a big weight off her shoulders.

Marc says he always pictured starting a business with his daughters.

“I could see it happening. I imagined us sitting around a conference table working on a family business, and my daughters playing a big role in it,” he shares. “Both Dixie and Charli came up with amazing ideas today. We’ve got a whole team now—it’s not just TikTok anymore or depending on one app,” he says. “It’s grown into something real.”

What Fans Say About the D’Amelio’s Be Happy Snacks

Cotton Candy Popcorn
Fans really like this one. Many say it tastes just like real cotton candy but isn’t too sweet. One review said, “Perfect balance of sweet and salty.” People also love the cute packaging.

Himalayan Pink Salt & White Cheddar
These two flavours are fan favourites. The Himalayan pink salt is described as crunchy and perfectly salted. White Cheddar is called “cheesy and delicious”, with some saying it’s better than other popcorn brands.

Maple Bacon Popcorn
This flavour got mostly negative feedback. Many fans didn’t like the smell or taste, with some saying it didn’t taste like maple or bacon at all. One person said, “It smelled bad and tasted stale.”

Overall Thoughts

Most people enjoy the cotton candy, pink salt, and white cheddar flavours. But Maple Bacon wasn’t well-received. Some fans also had mixed feelings about the brand’s promotion, especially when Charli and Dixie dressed as Walmart workers in ads.
